I was overweight. Out of shape. And, my 65th birthday was fast approaching. But I saw that as the perfect "kick in the butt" I needed to do something I've wanted to do for years. Bike across America (yes, bicycle—you know—pedaling).
Yes, I want to get in better physical shape. Yes, I want to live long enough to see my children marry and, if I'm lucky, enjoy grandchildren. But, I also want to draw awareness and support to my most passionate charitable causes...four distinct organizations that benefit disadvantaged children. It's my dream.
Supporting it will help give these children the will and inspiration to dream for themselves and the chance for their dreams to come true. read more >>

Don Sheppard with Sherryl Broverman
Sherryl Broverman is one of my heroes and I admire and respect WISER! Check out their story. I'm dedicated to helping them fulfill their mission.
The Wiserbridge primary school program, serving over 700 students, is a co-educational enrichment program working with all 14 schools in the district that builds capacity in local teachers via professional development seminars. In two years WISERBridge has improved the passing rate of girls on the KCPE, the Kenyan national exam, from 6% to 40% passing.
Because of WISER more girls are in school than ever before. Beyond academics, becoming a student at WISER means you get to eat three meals a day, sleep in a bed, have clean drinking water, and the first regular access to health care. With your help we can impact the lives of many more girls.
Don Sheppard with Amy and Austin
"I am honored and thrilled to support Young Life Capernaum and the amazing work Amy and Austin are doing. Please check them out and make a pledge per mile to help them continue their selfless and loving work.".
Young Life Capernaum
Investing in the lives of kids and young adults with special needs worldwide, particularly in Greater Pasadena and throughout Los Angeles.
The special needs community is one that can be easily missed in our world, but once noticed, will likely impact your life significantly. It is my privilege to know many families in our local community that have kids with special needs. I was once uncomfortable around people with disabilities but now I see how alike we are, and am so grateful to be involved in their lives.
An annual event highlighting our friends and honoring their hopes. A simple, but otherwise often missed opportunity.
Offering an unforgettable and life-changing experience at camp. With one-on-one help and attention from their Young Life leaders, at a top-notch camp in picturesque surroundings, these young people with special needs get to experience as many of the camp activities as possible.
Global Initiatives in Africa: Mpilonhle — Partly funded by Charlize Theron's Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), Mpilonhle is dedicated to improving health and social development in the Umkhanyakude District, one of South Africa's poorest communities.
